Sporewing

The Sporewing is a broad-winged insect of Jeyrha's southern fungal forests that carries both pollen and fungal spores, and Jeyrhan ecological engineers have bred it into the foundation of the continent's farmland. The vast inland fields of Jeyrha are pollinated largely by kept Sporewing colonies.

Its body is furred to hold pollen and spores, and its wings carry pale luminous bands that show in the twilight of the south, where Saethern's light never fully leaves the sky.

It lives in colonies of several thousand and is docile. It does not sting, and keepers work the hives bare-handed.

The wild form still lives in the southern fungal forests. The kept strains are Jeyrhan work, refined over generations of breeding, and the farms around Reyhuul depend on them for nearly every crop they grow.
