The Plains Smilohound is a wild pack predator of Inland Thazvaar's open plains, descended from domesticated lines that reverted to feral behavior. It is intermediate in size between the Greater Smilohound and Lesser Smilohound. Its short broad skull, reinforced jaw, and compact musculature suit endurance hunting across heat-baked, broken terrain, and its single-layered ochre and stone-gray coat gives it camouflage in grassland. Its long upper canines grow continuously throughout life and regenerate when broken. Packs hunt large herbivores together, coordinating with high-pitched yelps, barks, and long-distance calls, and rarely engage humans unless provoked or defending territory.

Inland pirates often keep them starved and caged and release them during village raids, using the animals' pack aggression without risking direct combat themselves. The species is also integral to Thazvaari nomadic life, where it is held as an emblem of unity and strength.
