Tidelash
Berinu tidal algae
Origin
Berinu (tidal coasts)
Record
Geban field flora
The Tidelash is a whip-like algae that grows along Berinu’s tidal coasts. Its long, flexible strands move violently with the pull of the water and can wrap around passing fish or the legs of divers, which has led many to mistake it for a sentient predator.
Though hazardous, the Tidelash plays an essential ecological role, recycling decomposed fauna into nutrient-rich sediment that sustains Berinu’s coastal ecosystems, and it is both feared and respected.
