Saethera Skypillar

Saethera giant tree

Origin
Saethera (warmlight forests)
Record
Geban field flora

The Saethera Skypillar is an immense, fungal-linked tree native to Saethera’s warmlight forests, and unlike ordinary trees it never stops growing. It expands upward and outward without limit. Its core is fungal, and it continuously merges with networks of fungus that circulate nutrients through its trunk. The oldest known Skypillars were first recorded more than three thousand years ago and are still standing and growing, their crowns lost above the canopy and their roots too deep to reach.

Mosses, lichens, and parasitic vines thrive on its surface and form vertical ecosystems that stretch for kilometers. The Skypillar gives them both structure and sustenance, acting as living soil for countless smaller species. It is widely considered immortal, since no natural mechanism of decay has ever been observed in it.
