The Lesser Smilohound is a robust canid guardian native to Geba, trusted across the planet in protective roles that run from companionship to operational combat partnership. It stands 0.4 to 2.4 meters at the rear and weighs 80 to 740 kg, with size varying enormously across breeding lines developed for different purposes and environments. It is stocky and heavily muscled, its long upper canines reduced by selective breeding. Its extreme intelligence and adaptability are what earn it that trust, and its long lifespan and quick maturation make it reliable in service across diverse terrain. It has been integrated into Geban society since the Era of Early Dominion and is ubiquitous in capitals, relay hubs and outposts.

The Sentinelhound is a close relative bred specifically for bonding and mirroring human behavior. It is kept in two strains, a compact companion and a much larger working guardian, and both descend from the Lesser Smilohound.
