Imperial Striking Wasp

Geba stinging insect

Origin
Geba (central plains, urban centers)
Length
2 to 8 cm
Lifespan
2 to 3 months

The Imperial Striking Wasp is a small insect of Geba's central plains and urban centers, 2 to 8 cm long, with six large wings and a stinger the length of its body. Its sting causes intense pain and temporary paralysis by disrupting the nerves, without any toxin. It lives 2 to 3 months, matures rapidly and reproduces frequently in the warm season, producing swarming hives. It is attracted to sweet smells and bright colors and stays passive unless provoked.

It pollinates plants with sweet flowers and supports the agricultural ecosystems of the Geba continent's central plains and the urban gardens that have grown up around every major population center. It is a nuisance and is not considered dangerous, but its paralytic sting has been a source of cautionary tales since the Era of Imperial Conquest, when Geban market vendors first learned to avoid bright colors near hive concentrations.
