Mirehook

Berinu marsh predator

Origin
Berinu and Coastal Thazvaar (marshlands and deltas)
Size
Roughly equivalent to a large Sentinelhound

The Mirehook is a semi-aquatic predator native to the marshlands and deltas of Berinu and Coastal Thazvaar. Roughly the size of a large Sentinelhound, it hunts in brackish water, using hooked claws to pull prey beneath the surface. Its dark, segmented shell blends into mud and reeds, and it attacks from concealment. It is territorial and highly aggressive.

The shell is light and strong, and it is prized for armor and expedition tools. In covert markets it is shaped directly into projectiles, which no plant-based material can match. This makes Mirehook harvesting part of the weapons trade, alongside venoms from the Venomveil Serpent and the Jungle Viper.
