Kela is Geba's vast northern polar continent, a frontier of frozen plains, polar shelves, and geothermal vents. It is one of two landmasses directly connected to the Uncharted, along with Saethera, but it is the only one without an environment that will kill you for trying to approach. The Kelan people thrive here with unmatched climbing skills and endurance built for extreme cold and high altitudes. Males outnumber females approximately 3:1, the most extreme male skew on the planet, because the frontier draws outcasts, fugitives, ex-warlords, and engineers, the overwhelming majority of whom are male. Most of Kela's 700 million inhabitants came from somewhere else.

Colonies and Operations

Autonomous colonies established in the Era of Late Conquest serve as refuges for ex-warlords, criminals, and outcasts seeking escape from imperial oversight. The Kela Maritime Guild specializes in underwater technologies for polar and subsurface operations, powering elite and military gear with Sentinel Division and Joxi Industrial Holdings energy sources. Ioe Jerhit founded mercenary groups here to escort settlers and hunt fugitives, later coercing engineers to develop Uncharted survival tech in fortified compounds. Energy Wars contracts on Kela focus on expansion into the Uncharted and locating new energy sources, regardless of northern Kela remaining a mostly unknown black zone.

Fauna and Terrain

Devolved species like the Neron lurk in geothermal vents, while fossils of the extinct Boretheris Titan dot the plateaus. Kela has very few hubs and no native relays, relying entirely on Ngorrhal's super-massive relay infrastructure. Northern Kela near the Uncharted border is a near-black zone with poor connectivity, avoided by most due to lack of infrastructure and support. Izhara's light barely reaches Kela's latitude, producing brief, dim daylight cycles. Zhaerys provides the majority of visible illumination during its slower orbit, casting the continent in an orange-red haze for extended periods. Kelan resilience turns the deadly cold into home, proving skill and grit surpass size in the face of endless frost.

About Vesselborn

Vesselborn is the story of Geba, a world that has carried an empire for six thousand years.

It begins with Vaer'karesh, who unites five nations into the first empire and fixes a common language and law. Across the ages, the empire fights and finally breaks Thazvaar, welcomes Jeyrha through engineering and diplomacy, and liberates Berinu by choice. In Ngorrhal, the greatest warriors of the mountain passes become the Frost Sentinels, whose strength helps secure imperial rule. The Haavu cannon systems cement that dominance.

At its height, the empire spans continents and raises relay towers that bind cities, coasts, and passes into one network. The last emperor is assassinated and the throne shatters. Civil wars consume the planet. But the answer is not collapse. The Shadow Rule forms from what the empire left behind, ends the warlord broadcasts, and holds the world together without a crown. They are the empire made quiet: continuity without ceremony.

Today, the Shadow Rulers still govern from the background while the Energy Wars decide who controls grids, relays, vehicles, and culture. Nine faiths compete for how the world understands itself. Tour racing draws audiences as large as the Yuvaar Hunting Games. Relaymen carry broadcast rigs into corridors and criminal networks to capture what the governed world is never meant to see. Contractors move through contested territory for manufactory interests. Syndicates operate trafficking networks through grey zones the empire tolerates rather than confronts. The Engineered, once created as instruments of war, now live as citizens, athletes, engineers, and parents.

Stories range from relay field defenses and inland recoveries to city governance and frontier resettlement; from airship crews racing through volcanic caverns to truth seekers embedding in syndicate operations; from arena fighters practicing an ancient faith through combat to families choosing the safety of hub clearings or the risk beyond the grid.
