Teytan Coast

The Teytan Territorial Waters

Type
Controlled territorial waters
Location
Northeastern edge of Inland Thazvaar, between the Kelan Ocean and the Uncharted Deep
Hazard
Jurisdiction, not weather
Average Depth
Coastal shelf, roughly 12 to 18 km
Temperature
Cold northern water, roughly -5°C (23°F) to 8°C (46°F)
Winds
Cold coastal wind, roughly 50 to 100 km/h (30 to 62 mph); the danger here is the jurisdiction, not the weather

Teytan Coast sits on the northeastern edge of Inland Thazvaar, between the Kelan Ocean to the west and the Uncharted Deep to the north, and the water itself is not the danger. The danger is whose water it is. Teytan territorial waters belong to the Teytan, the New Dominion, a self sustaining separatist state of roughly thirteen million living under the First Doctrine of Blood Royal.

By that doctrine, everyone inside the Teytan line is provided for and everyone outside it is treated as material rather than as a person, and the Teytan run the largest trafficking operation on the planet on exactly that logic, at a scale that dwarfs every other, with a large share of the captive population born into it rather than taken. A vessel ordered to dock in Teytan water is not being offered a hearing. Compliance is induction into that system, indefinitely and often across generations. An airship over Teytan told to land is better off running and being shot down, because one outcome is uncertain and the other is certain, and the certain one is worse than death.

Marine Life

the Blackwing Titanbird ranges the northern coastal boundary here as it does all along the northern Thazvaar shore.
