Origin
The Destroyer-Class are the rarest of the Engineered and the most extreme. They were created from Prince Daer's deepening paranoia and fierce drive to protect his brother, Emperor Varethis'Auren Kel'varesh, amid rising threats during the Era of Late Conquest. Unlike the other classes, which were designed for the conquest of terrain natural biology could not reach, the Destroyers were created solely for war. Their frames amplify Assault-Class ferocity into something cataclysmic, rooted in Frost Sentinel resilience and scaled beyond anything the other classes approach.
Physicality
Destroyer-Class individuals have been known to reach over 9 feet in height. Many who encounter them for the first time assume their deployment armor is exaggerating their size. It is not. They are simply that massive. The difference between a Destroyer in armor and a Destroyer without armor is the difference between something enormous and something enormous that is also armored. There is no version of a Destroyer-Class individual that appears manageable or ordinary, and the reaction they produce in natural-born humans on first contact is not surprise but a recalibration of what the observer believed was physically possible for a living being.
The smallest recorded Destroyer hybrid was a female who stood 7'7" and weighed 510 lbs. She could leap and sprint with full deployment gear as if she were an Assault-Class individual, meaning the compression of Destroyer capability into a smaller hybrid frame did not reduce their physical output but concentrated it. That was the smallest one ever recorded.
Genetics and Reproduction
The Destroyer-Class carries dominant genes with a 100 percent conception rate, meaning any union involving a Destroyer will produce a Destroyer-lineage child regardless of the other parent's biology. This genetic dominance ensures that the template propagates without dilution. However, their gestation period is six times longer than the typical natural-born term, and their desire to both fight and reproduce is extraordinarily low, which means the population remains vanishingly small despite the genetic certainty of their propagation. They do not seek partners. They do not seek conflict. They exist in the smallest numbers of any Engineered class because the very traits that make them unstoppable also make them uninterested in producing more of themselves.
Deployment
They deploy in tight squads of two to five and obliterate strongholds and forces with unrelenting power across any terrain. Fewer than 100 have ever taken a contract in recorded history. Those who did acted only due to circumstance or to protect someone else. None have ever continued contracting. They are repulsed by warfare and violence, which is remarkable for beings that were engineered to excel at nothing else.
Temperament
Post-battle, they shun contact. They seek remote solitudes. They rarely form bonds with natural-born humans. The only companions they tolerate disturbing their isolation are Assault-Class, and this tolerance appears to stem from recognition that the Assault-Class impulsivity is harmless to them in a way that it would be dangerous for natural-borns or other classes. They seek peace. The most destructive beings ever created on this planet want nothing more than to be left alone.
Ice Bear Territory
The Destroyer-Class are the only group on the planet known to live in the same territories as the Ngorrhali ice bears and survive without issue. They occupy the same glacial valleys and high altitude ice fields that no other population, natural-born or Engineered, will enter voluntarily. Whether this coexistence is a product of mutual recognition, mutual disinterest, or something else entirely is unknown, but the Destroyer-Class settle in these territories and the ice bears do not contest their presence in the way they contest everything else that enters their domain.
Brannok'Drekan
Brannok'Drekan is the most famous Destroyer-Class hybrid in recorded history, and brought awareness to the general population that Destroyer-Class hybrids even existed. His actions at Auren's Tributary are the most viewed broadcast in Vinscel's career. He died of heart failure after the Warlord Eras ended. The natural human side of his biology could not sustain the output his Destroyer heritage enabled. His death was not a failure of engineering. It was the confirmation that the Destroyer template cannot be safely diluted. It functions at full expression or it destroys the vessel that carries a partial version of it.
