Kela Maritime Guild

Polar and Subsurface Maritime Engineering

Era: Era of Fracture through Modern Geba

Origin: Kela

The Kela Maritime Guild originated in Kela during the post-Fracture period and specializes in polar and subsurface maritime operations. It is the most popular maritime guild on the planet and builds the frames that the major manufacturers use for their vessels, making it a critical supplier despite its remote location.

The guild produces submersibles, expensive underwater arrays, and expedition-grade equipment designed for the extreme conditions of Kela's polar waters and near-Uncharted maritime regions. Its engineering is built for environments where conventional equipment fails: crushing depths, freezing temperatures, and the unpredictable conditions of Geba's oceans, which average over sixty kilometers in depth with trenches exceeding three hundred.

The guild does not always post contracts to the Solarn Contractor Registry. Most of its contracts are designed to attract people to expedition work in Kela's polar and near-Uncharted regions, paying contractors at rates comparable to similar-level details elsewhere. The draw is the work itself rather than the rate. The guild serves elites and military for subsurface operations while maintaining its base in New Auren, where the shipbuilding economy has driven the local population for generations.

During the Warlord Eras, Kela's isolation and extreme climate insulated the guild from the worst of the conflicts. The demand for ships and long-distance airships during that period was a net positive for New Auren's economy. In the modern era, the guild's submersible technology and polar expertise make it essential for any operation attempting to work in the deep maritime regions or the near-Uncharted waters that surround the inhabitable continents.
