Tidelash

The Tidelash is a whip-like algae that grows along Berinu’s tidal coasts. Its long, flexible strands move violently with the water’s pull, capable of wrapping around passing fish or the legs of divers. This behavior has led many to mistake it for a sentient predator.

Though hazardous, the Tidelash plays an essential ecological role, recycling decomposed fauna into nutrient-rich sediment that sustains Berinu’s coastal ecosystems. It remains both feared and respected, its violent motion a reminder of the sea’s living volatility.
