Despite its name, the Saethera Veilwood is not a tree but a parasitic, bark-like organism that grows as a living shell over other plants—and occasionally fauna. It absorbs trace nutrients from its host in exchange for forming a hardened, armor-like layer that protects both itself and the host from predators, fungal decay, and severe weather. The result is a mutualistic relationship where both lifeforms endure longer than they would apart.
