Reefmarcher

Piscis Stolidus

Origin: Jeyrha (shallow coastal waters)

Length: 2 to 9 meters

Weight: 180 to 450 kg

The Reefmarcher is a large, sluggish reef fish native to Jeyrha's shallow coastal waters, measuring 2 to 9 meters in length and weighing 180 to 450 kg. Built low and heavy with a dense muscular body, thin scales, small eyes, and undersized fins that limit maneuverability, its narrow mouth and slow reflexes make it defenseless and easy to capture, often taken by hand or with simple nets.

Lacking intelligence or predatory instinct, the Reefmarcher reproduces rapidly in warm calm seasons, flooding the shallows with dense spawning groups that feed both marine predators and coastal populations. Its constant breeding cycle and high body density make it a cheap, reliable source of nutrients, forming a major portion of coastal diets and trade across Jeyrha and the surrounding island chains.
